Evidence Based Interventions: Triple P in San Francisco

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 1:30:00 PM CST - 3:00:00 PM CST

Co-sponsored by the National Resource Center for Permanency and Family Connections (NRCPFC)

Learn about San Francisco’s experience with delivering and sustaining the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, a multilevel system of parenting and family support strategies developed for use with families from many cultural groups.

Each of these sessions will feature a site that has implemented at least one evidence based intervention (EBI), and highlight how the EBI has been supported on an organizational level and experienced on a practice level.   From each jurisdiction we will hear three perspectives – a child welfare administrator, a provider directly managing the service, and a practitioner. The child welfare administrator and provider will discuss what it takes to support and sustain an EBI, and the practitioner will describe how the intervention works in practice.   Presenters will explore the challenges involved in delivering EBIs, and lessons learned about maintaining these effective programs and practices over time.

OBJECTIVES:  Participants will –
• Learn about critical strategies for supporting and sustaining EBIS in the face of challenges;
• Have an increased understanding of how a specific evidence based intervention is utilized in the real world context of families and children in the child welfare system.

Presenters:

  • Sylvia Deporto, Deputy Director, Family and Children’s Services, San Francisco Human Services Agency
  • Stephanie Romney, Director, The Parent Training Institute, San Francisco
